Benefit: More traction.
Part Number For Plow Boy Tires: Panther Tire Part # PT957
Total Install Time: About 30 Minutes On New Wheels And Trimming The Foam
First Impressions: I about fell over when I saw the size of the box! I then again about fell over
when I saw the tires inside. These things look sweet. Then I asked myself
"SELF, are these tires supoosed to be so soft?"
Assembly: N/A. You get tires and foams, what more could there be?
Installation: I used new wheels so this was a little easier, but it was a tad bit time consuming.
The thing that takes the longest is cutting the foam down to a usable size. YES you HAVE to
use the foam, these tires are made from a softer rubber than the stock tires and WILL NOT hold
the weight of the T-Maxx without them! Oh yeah, use some glue or you wont keep the tires on
the wheels very long.
Performance: Well, the new OS makes light work out of the stock tires (runs just a little better
than the stock TRX engine), but the Plow Boys make it work just a little harder. The soft rubber
flexes and give a larger contact patch. The dual chevrons grab like mad. For off road situations
the plow boys really work well. Then there is the cornering. The sidewall flex is a bit much. High
speed corners will have the side wall of the tire rolling. While this does aid in traction, I think
there is to much traction, I roll over quite easy when the Maxx is moving at a good clip. The
stock tires do it to, but these are worse. Then again, these are not slicks and are ment for
clawing at the dirt for traction, not taking 25mph corners like an on road car. If you use them
in the dirt and don't run full speed coners, you should be a happy camper.
Likes: I really like the looks. They come with foam and get great traction. They make the new
OS 15 really work for once. They are much lighter than the stock tires and foams.
Dislikes: These tires are a little on the soft side for my liking.
Comments: Panther Tire has picked up the ball in the Maxx tire market. They have more than
one tire design for the Maxx to suit your needs. The Plow Boys are a good tire for bashing,
climbing, or any general off road use. If you want to go fast and do slalom manuvers, get the
slicks!
