The Mini Z
2
years ago I was looking for something small to run indoors
at my new house. I decided to give a Kyosho Mini
Z a try. I bought one of Ebay along with sticky tires,
a ball diff, delrin servo gears, graphite rear suspension
plates, and a x speed motor. Once it arrived, I ran
it stock for a while. It was fun, but the stock tires
had no grip on my wood floors. So I strapped on the
sticky rubber. It was much better. Now I wanted to
see what the x speed could do. Well, it was not as
much fun as I thought it would be. Anything over 1/4
throttle resulted in endless donuts. So in went the
ball diff. This mad almost not difference not matter
how tight or loose I set it. On pavement its another story.
It can still spin out, but its much easier to control
and the speed really comes through. I played with
the rear suspension plates and liked the stiffest
once until I crashed and snapped it in half. Now I use
a medium stiffness plate and it works well I most
situations. Of course I dont race it, so the handling
is not a big issue. In the end its not something that
works out real well for me in the house, but its still
a blast!
